    Cooling Towers Need Winterization

    1. The water basin must be kept from freezing when cooling tower is idle. This can be accomplished by a remote sump installed in a heated space, steam/hot water coils or electric immersion heaters in the tower basin.
    2. All outdoor water lines, including the make up water and drain lines, should be traced with heater cable and insulated.
    3. Frequent visual inspections must be performed regularly to insure all operating controls are properly set and functioning. Freeze prevention is necessary to avoid any possible icing conditions that may develop which could damage the unit.
